Yes, automation is welcome
You are welcome to run expert advisors (EAs), trading bots and custom indicators on your UZO MetaTrader 5 account, and to copy trades between accounts you personally own. Automation is treated exactly like manual trading: what matters is that your strategy respects the prohibited-conduct rules set out below, not whether a person or a robot places the order.
UZO does not penalise you for using tools. An EA, a bot, a script or a custom indicator is simply a faster way to express a trading idea, and on UZO that is welcome. The one thing no tool may do is exploit the mechanics of the simulation itself. The same banned-strategy list applies whether you click the buy button by hand or a robot does it for you.
Enabling Algo Trading in MT5 desktop
Expert advisors run only in the MetaTrader 5 desktop application. The MT5 web terminal does not support EAs, so if you intend to automate, install the desktop app for Windows or Mac and log in with your UZO MT5 credentials.
Once you are logged in, switch automation on:
Click the Algo Trading button in the top toolbar (or open Tools, then Options, then Expert Advisors, and allow algorithmic trading). The button turns green when active.
Open the Navigator panel (Ctrl+N) and find your EA under the Expert Advisors folder. Should it not be there yet, copy the .ex5 or .mq5 file into the platform's MQL5/Experts folder, then refresh the Navigator.
Drag the EA onto the chart of the instrument you want it to trade, confirm its inputs, and make sure Allow Algo Trading is ticked in the dialog.
Check for a small smiling face in the top-right corner of the chart. That confirms the EA is live and permitted to trade.
Leverage is fixed at 1:100 across UZO, and your EA trades against real, live market prices, so it is worth testing your strategy under realistic market conditions before you let it run.
Loading a custom indicator
Custom indicators are welcome and load the same way. Place the indicator file in the platform's MQL5/Indicators folder, then open the Navigator panel and look under Indicators. Drag it onto a chart to apply it, or set it as an input for an EA that depends on it.
Indicators only read live prices and draw on your chart, so they carry no extra rules of their own. They simply help you or your EA decide when to trade.
Copy trading your own accounts
You may copy trades between accounts that you personally own, for example mirroring your own master account onto another of your UZO accounts. This is permitted. What is not permitted is copying between accounts belonging to different people: copy trading is for your own accounts only.
Where you run the same EA across several of your own accounts, we would ask that each account carries its own distinctive settings rather than an identical copied configuration, so that every account trades as its own. Each account also has to respect its own product rules independently, including its drawdown limits and, where applicable, its profit target. Copying a position across accounts does not pool or share those limits.
What stays off-limits even with an EA
Automation never unlocks a prohibited strategy. The following remain off-limits whether they run by hand or by bot, because they game the simulation rather than trade the market:
Latency or HFT arbitrage, exploiting delays between price and execution.
Arbitrage of any kind, including reverse arbitrage and group arbitrage across accounts.
Tick scalping, where the average holding time falls below 2 minutes, capturing individual ticks rather than genuine price movement.
Exploiting platform, data or pricing errors, such as stale quotes or a frozen feed.
Martingale and grid strategies, and one-sided all-or-nothing bets.
Hedging, whether within a single account or across accounts, and identical copied configurations run across accounts.
Anything that games the simulation, any method whose edge comes from the platform's mechanics instead of the real market.
Automated strategies should also keep to normal activity levels. More than 200 trades together with more than 2,000 order operations or server messages in a single day is treated as hyperactivity, so pace your bot accordingly.
News trading, overnight holds and weekend holds are all permitted, subject to the usual per-instrument conditions, so a fully automated strategy that simply trades the live market is in good standing.
The Best Day Rule and the Best Trade Rule
On One Step, Two Step, Instant and Instant Pro, UZO applies a soft Best Day Rule to withdrawals. No single trading day may account for more than 20% of your total net profit in the current reward segment, meaning the profit earned since your last reward. The number you divide by is always your total segment profit, never the amount you are withdrawing, and the window resets after every approved reward, so a strong day from an earlier segment never counts against you again. This is a soft gate: it never breaches or fails your account and it does not invalidate an evaluation. If one day is too large a share of that profit, it simply holds the withdrawal until the rest of your trading brings the distribution back into range, at which point the withdrawal proceeds. Your EA can run its course, and if it lands one outsized winning day, the withdrawal waits rather than being lost.
Instant 24h works differently. There the equivalent measure is the Best Trade Rule, where no single trade may account for more than 15% of your total net profit in the current reward segment. On Instant 24h the account always runs to the end of its 24 hour window and closes when the window expires. Where a trade has exceeded the 15% share, the account closes at the end of the window with no reward generated, so keeping every trade within its share is what protects the reward.
The short version
Run your EAs, bots and indicators on MT5 desktop with confidence. Give each of your own accounts its own distinctive settings, keep away from latency arbitrage, tick scalping and anything that games the simulation, and you are well inside the rules.
